C&S honours Obasanjo, Ooni, others at Centenary Celebration

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; the Ooni of Ife,  Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the late Alake of Abeokuta, Oba Ladapo Ademola; a member of Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC),  Olorunfemi Bashorun; and the Lagos State Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Cornelius Ojelabi were among 100 persons honoured, yesterday, by the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church as part of activities marking 100 years of the establishment of the Church.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the awards committee, His Eminence, Emmanuel Owomoyela, said the event aimed at showcasing and celebrating individuals who had played critical roles in the church’s journey in the last 100 years.  He disclosed that selecting the 100 awardees among the over 15 million members of the church and outside the church was a daunting task for the committee.

He noted that those recognised were not only those alive but also those who had died, and that honouring the dead was meant to show that their efforts were not forgotten.

He further said that many deserving individuals could not make the 100-member awardee list, but that the church council had opened a window to also honour them in some way.
