Alia appoints eight new heads of Benue govt agencies

The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr Dr Hyacinth Alia, has approved the appointment of eight new officials to head various government agencies and educational institutions in the state.

The appointments will take effect from Monday, July 7, 2025.

The announcement was made in a press statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, on Saturday.

According to the statement, the appointments are part of the state government’s plan to enhance the efficiency of public institutions and improve the delivery of services.

“This development is in furtherance of the governor’s commitment to repositioning all institutions of government for optimal service delivery, efficiency, and accountability,” Kula said.

He said the new officials were carefully selected based on their track record of competence, dedication, and integrity.

The New Appointees are Anta Igbaato as Acting General Manager, Benue State Sanitation Authority (BENSESA), Bem Tseen as Acting Executive Secretary, Teaching Service Board, Joseph Kwagbga as Acting Chairman, Benue Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Prof. Ode Boniface Ogbu as Provost, College of Education, Oju, and Prof. Qrisstuberg Msughter Amua as Vice Chancellor, University of Agricultural Science and Technology, Ihugh.

Others include Dr. Johnson Ijale Echor as Registrar, University of Agricultural Science and Technology, Ihugh, Mr. James Ormyee as Bursar, University of Agricultural Science and Technology, Ihugh, and Dr. Demekaa Umbur as Librarian, University of Agricultural Science and Technology, Ihugh.
Kula also said that the current acting heads of the Teaching Service Board and the Benue Internal Revenue Service should return to the Head of Service for new duties.

The acting General Manager of BENSESA has been directed to report back to the governor’s office.

Governor Alia congratulated the appointees and asked them to justify the confidence reposed in them by discharging their duties diligently and in line with the administration’s vision of transforming Benue State.
