According to the statement, the suspects were arrested following a coordinated patrol led by the Ifo Command Coordinator, Amt. Omotunde Dotun.

“The operation, which was triggered by credible intelligence regarding a robbery at Apomu, along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, where Messrs Dada Oluwaseun and Oluwajuwonlo Moshood were violently attacked while performing their lawful duties as tricycle operators.

“The victims, who later identified Olabode Yusuf and Clement Samuel as the primary perpetrators, both of whom have previously been involved in criminal activities in the area, recounted a harrowing experience where they were attacked by the suspects, who fired a locally-made pistol and shattered their tricycle windshields, leading to severe injuries and the loss of valuables, including mobile phones and cash.

“Items stolen by the suspects included two sophisticated Samsung and iPhone telephone sets, and raw cash totalling N40,000.

“The magnitude of the criminals’ actions is further demonstrated by the destructive damage inflicted on the victims’ tricycles and the psychological trauma endured.

“Upon further investigations, the suspects, identified as ‘customs camp boys,’ were found to be in possession of a locally-made pistol, charms, and a jackknife, which were allegedly used in the commission of the crime,” the statement reads.

The corps commended the bravery and diligence of its operatives in foiling the robbery attack and apprehending the suspects, describing the arrest as a significant victory in the fight against criminal activities in the state. It further assured the public that it will continue in its efforts to restore safety and security in all communities.
