The Guardian learnt that two unregistered passenger boats, each carrying 16 passengers, collided in the middle of the lagoon in Imore Town. Both boats capsized, and the passengers and goods were thrown into the water.

Police authorities said yesterday that the Ilashe Police Division received a distress call that two unregistered passenger boats with 32 passengers collided at about 7:00 p.m.

Eleven of the passengers were rescued with injuries and taken to the Naval Hospital, Navy Town, Alakija, for medical attention.
