Centre trains youths with disabilities, orphans in digital skills

An Ikorodu-based Information Technology centre has trained several youths with disabilities and children from orphanage homes in digital skills. The initiative, held under the Youth Day of Service of LEAP Africa, is led by Creative Digital Technologies in Agric, Ikorodu.

Founder of the centre, Idris Adegbite, explained that the programme aims to equip young people with skills in artificial intelligence, technology, and leadership.

The training covers content writing, graphic design, video editing, introduction to AI tools, social media management and YouTube monetisation. Adegbite added that a special programme for school children introduces them to modern-day skills such as web design, game development, app development, robotics and graphic design.

According to him, the programme runs for five weeks, Monday to Friday, and benefits children from orphanages as well as those with disabilities.
One of the beneficiaries, Aderemilekun Moyosore Oluwo, expressed gratitude for the opportunities the training had provided. At the same time, a hairdresser, Motunrayo Ibe, said she had learnt video editing, image creation and graphic design.

The founder of the Holy Name Missionary Rehabilitation Home, Ikorodu, Rev Mother Osinachi Becky Nzenwa, also commended the organisers for what she described as an impactful programme.
