Court remands six over alleged armed robbery

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Thursday remanded six persons, Afeez Adegboyega, Rasaki Sodiq, Taiwo Ganiyu, Yusuf Popoola, Tunji Moses and Babatunde Isiaka, in a Correctional Facility over alleged armed robbery.

The Magistrate, Mrs. M. A. Atanda, who did not take the defendants pleas, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

Atanda adjourned the case until April 10, for mention.

Adegboyega, 29, Sodiq, 35; Ganiyu, 47; Popoola 38; Moses, 37 and Isiaka, 56, are facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Kemi Oladapo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Dec. 20, 2024 at 11.00 p.m. at TollGate, Ibadan.

Oladapo said the defendants armed themselves with dangerous weapons and attacked a trailer driver, Mr Busari Ismaila.

She said that the case was reported to the police and the defendants were trailed and arrested.

Oladapo said the offences contravened Sections 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State and 6b of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, 2004.
