The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service has said it saved 69 lives and property valued at N14.46 billion from various fire incidents recorded across the territory between January and September 2025.
This was disclosed in the Fire and Rescue Statistics report made available to journalists by the FCT Fire Service spokesperson, Mr Ibrahim Mohammad.
Mohammad stated that 18 lives were, however, lost and property worth about N6.07 billion was destroyed during the same period. According to the report, 30 people were rescued in March, 13 in April, 22 in June and four in July, while no loss of life was recorded in January, February, May, August and September. March and April, however, accounted for 10 and eight deaths respectively.
The service also responded to 338 fire calls within the nine-month period. February recorded the highest number of calls, with 64, followed by January with 59; April, 51; June, 35; March, 33; May, 31); July, 24; August, 21; and September, 20.
Additionally, the FCT Fire Service reported receiving nine rescue calls during the period under review.
