Firm boosts security on Sagamu-Iperu-Ode road with solar-powered light
SolarCity Nigeria has installed solar-powered street lights on the Sagamu-Iperu-Ode road in Ogun State to enhance security.
The initiative was part of regional infrastructure enhancement and exemplifies businesses’ pivotal role in advancing community transformation.
Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, had recently inaugurated the newly completed Sagamu-Iperu-Ode Road.
The project, realised in partnership with SolarCityGas Nigeria, involved installing solar-powered street lighting along a stretch of road connecting critical areas within the state.
The Chief Executive Officer of SolarCityGas Nigeria, Olasubomi Okeowo, expressed gratitude to the Ogun State government, particularly the Ministry of Morks, for collaborating on implementing the innovative solar lighting solution.
Okeowo emphasised the initiative’s dual benefits, including reduced reliance on fossil fuels and minimised environmental impact. He also highlighted its role in providing a dependable energy source that enhances safety and security, especially at night.
He said: “As Nigeria transitions towards alternative and renewable energy sources, this project is a testament to the economic advantages of renewable energy within the country’s power infrastructure.
“The successful installation of solar-powered LED street lights serves as a model for future projects.”
