Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising critical healthcare projects, as he officially inaugurated the newly renovated and rehabilitated Maru General Hospital in Maru Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was revealed that the government is undertaking the renovation and equipping of general hospitals across all 14 Local Government Areas of Zamfara State. The inspection of Maru General Hospital showcased significant upgrades in infrastructure and the installation of advanced medical equipment.
Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Lawal stressed his administration’s mission to create a healthcare environment that offers high-quality medical services that are both accessible and affordable for all citizens.
He noted, “The renovation works carried out in this hospital include modernising the facilities to ensure that the people of Maru and its environs have access to decent healthcare services.”

The governor explained that the upgrades have transformed the hospital’s physical structure and integrated advanced medical technologies, enabling the facility to handle various medical conditions, from routine care to complex surgical procedures. He added that the hospital staff are now better equipped to provide care that meets the highest standards.
Governor Lawal further revealed that the project includes a 39-kilowatt solar power system to ensure a reliable energy supply for the hospital’s medical equipment, alongside 35 streetlights installed throughout the hospital grounds for enhanced security and visibility.
“Our mission is to create a state-of-the-art healthcare environment for the people of Zamfara,” the governor said.
He encouraged the people of Maru and the wider Zamfara State to fully utilise the newly renovated facilities, while also directing the Ministry of Health to ensure the hospital’s maintenance and continuous operation.
