The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is set to inaugurate the “School Protection Squad” in Ogun State, an initiative designed to bolster the safety and security of schools across the state.

The programme will be unveiled during a two-day event themed “Capacity Building for Security Agencies and Other Stakeholders,” scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A statement issued by the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, late Monday, outlined the objectives of the initiative, including the deployment of rapid response units, increased vehicular patrols, and educational sessions on security practices for students, school principals, and stakeholders.

“The programme is designed to enlighten stakeholders about school safety and the proactive measures implemented by the Nigeria Police Force to ensure every school in Ogun State is well-protected,” the statement noted.

The event will feature participation from other security agencies, government representatives, traditional rulers, and private sector stakeholders. According to Odutola, this collaboration aims to ensure a successful launch and long-term impact.

“The public is encouraged to follow the proceedings live on the official police social media platforms from 10:00 am on 26th and 27th November 2024,” she added.

The initiative is expected to foster dialogue and the exchange of ideas among guests, who will propose additional strategies to enhance school security throughout the state.
