The Niger State Emergency Management Agency(NSEMA), has said nine bodies of seven men and two women have been recovered following a tragic boat accident that occurred in Gbajibo, Niger State.

The Director General of the agency, Abdullahi Baba Arah hinted that the victims were among the 300 passengers traveling from Mundi Community to attend the Maulud the Islamic annual celebration to commemorate the birth of Prophet Mohammed, at Gbajibo on Tuesday 1st October 2024 night when the boat capsized.

The boat with mostly women and children capsized during the journey.

Baba-Arah disclosed that the search and rescue operations were ongoing.
