Olubadan Olakulehin buried in Ibadan amid tributes

The 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, on Friday completed the final journey to his ancestors as his remains were committed to mother earth in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Oba Olakulehin, who joined his ancestors on Monday, 7th July, 2025, was buried at St Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan.

A burial service was organised in honour of the traditional ruler prior to the final burial, with many important personalities on the ground to pay their last respects to the monarch.

Among the dignitaries were Governor Seyi Makinde of the state, Deputy Governor Lawal, General Officer Commanding 2 Division of Nigeria Army, Major General O.G. Onubogu and National Deputy Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, and a host of others.

The body of the royal father was moved to the graveyard within the church for internment shortly after church service.

Those present paid glowing tributes to his strides and efforts in nation-building, being a retired military man, public servant and community leader.
