A female passenger sustained injuries yesterday when a commercial bus caught fire on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), Mr. Taofik Adebayo, confirmed the incident. He explained that the accident occurred when the driver of a 13-passenger Volkswagen bus attempted to overtake another vehicle.

“The driver was trying to overtake another vehicle, and while doing so, the accident happened, causing the vehicle to catch fire immediately. It was a 13-passenger Volkswagen bus,” he said.

Adebayo added that LASTMA officials swiftly moved to the scene to clear the wreckage and restore the flow of traffic on the busy bridge. He also confirmed that no lives were lost, noting that the injured passenger was taken to hospital for treatment.
