The Nigeria Police Force has announced that it has successfully repelled a terrorist attack on the Jakana Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State, leaving several of the assailants with varying degrees of bullet wounds.

The force’s spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

Adejobi said the attack took place around 1:00 a.m. on November 28, 2024, when a group of armed terrorists launched a surprise attack on the police facility.

“Fortunately, the group was met with strong resistance from gallant operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who successfully repelled the attack and left many of the attackers with varying degrees of bullet wounds, while one police officer was injured and is currently responding to treatment,” Adejobi said.

Similarly, on November 25th, operatives attached to the Sokoto State Police Command, along with operatives from other sister security agencies, conducted raids on several black spots and bandits camps across various areas in the state, clearing out the camps and recovering some AK47 rifles and several magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.

Occupants of the camp took to their heels upon noticing the presence of the operatives while efforts were on top gear to apprehend them all.

Also, in a bid to suppress the activities of kidnappers, police operatives attached to the Delta State Command on November 28th, 2024, acting on a report of attempted kidnapping at Asaba, immediately swung into action, giving hot chase to the suspected kidnappers.

The operatives intercepted and engaged the suspects in a gun duel, overpowering the suspected kidnappers and forcing them to flee into a nearby bush with sustained bullet injuries. Subsequent search of the suspected kidnappers’ operational vehicle led to the recovery of 3 Ak-47 rifle, 2 pump action rifles, 1 Ak-47 magazine, 8 rounds of AR Live ammunition, and 21 rounds of live cartridges.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, however, commends these gallant operatives for their steadfastness, commitment to duty, and bravery in the face of danger, leading to these remarkable feats and made recoveries.

He admonishes police officers to remain brave and continue to decimate the plans and antics of criminally minded individuals in the country while ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in our dear country.
