A tragic accident at Idi-Iroko, heading towards Ogolonto on Ikorodu Road, Lagos, has claimed the life of a passenger and left two others critically injured.

The crash occurred when a commercial Mazda bus collided with a fully loaded truck while reportedly competing for the right of way along the Agric axis. Eyewitnesses said a passenger seated by the doorway was flung out by the impact and crushed instantly under the truck’s tyres.

Two other passengers, a male and a female, sustained severe injuries and were rescued by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA). They were taken by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to Ikorodu General Hospital for treatment.

In a statement, LASTMA confirmed the incident, noting that its operatives, supported by officers from the Owutu Police Division, secured the scene, carried out the rescue, and evacuated both vehicles to restore traffic flow.

The remains of the deceased were later handed over to his family by police officers. LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the bereaved family and urged motorists to exercise restraint, patience, and responsibility on busy routes such as Ikorodu Road.
