Several passengers sustained injuries on Monday following a road accident involving a commercial bus and a Toyota Camry on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
According to a statement by the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the incident occurred shortly before Adekunle Junction, on the inward lane toward Lagos Island. The commercial bus reportedly somersaulted multiple times after colliding with the Camry.
“A commercial bus and a Toyota Camry were involved in an accident before Adekunle Junction,” the RRS said. “The bus somersaulted several times, leaving many passengers injured.”
Patrol teams and bikers from the RRS were among the first responders at the scene. They provided initial assistance to the injured while officers from the Adekunle Police Division also joined the rescue operation.
Emergency service personnel were deployed to the site to support ongoing rescue efforts and to administer further medical attention. The RRS confirmed that no fatalities occurred in the crash.
“The ill-fated vehicles have been evacuated, and free vehicular movement has been restored on the route,” the statement added.
The exact cause of the accident had not been officially confirmed as of press time.
