The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the death of five persons following a boat mishap along the Bennet Island River in Warri South Local Council of the state.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed yesterday that six persons sustained injuries and are receiving treatment, while 19 others were rescued. He added that one person remains missing.
The Guardian learnt that the incident occurred on Monday night, although details of the boat’s direction at the time of the accident remain unclear.
Edafe noted that the command is awaiting a detailed report from officers in Warri to provide further clarity on the incident.
