Two yet-to-be-identified persons abandoned a bag, locally known as ‘Ghana Must Go’, after operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command swooped on them.
The police said they recovered a large number of electronic gadgets from the suspects during a routine patrol around the Allen Roundabout area of Ikeja, Lagos.
On inspection, the operatives discovered 32 iPhones of different models and 38 other smartphones of various brands, including Samsung, Redmi, Tecno and Honor. Also recovered were five laptops, several smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and a number of damaged phones suspected to have been stolen from different parts of Ikeja and its environs.
Speaking on the recovery, the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, Shola Jejeloye, said preliminary investigations indicated that the items were stolen property hurriedly abandoned by the suspects.
He urged members of the public who may have lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters, Alausa, with verifiable proof of ownership for proper identification and reclaim.
