Dozens of protesters took to the streets of Abuja on Monday, demanding the immediate release of social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).

The protesters were sighted in the Wuse area, holding placards and shouting, “Free VDM! Free VDM!”

The protest follows VDM’s arrest on Friday, May 2, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

VDM was reportedly arrested over allegations of cyberstalking in Abuja.

His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, said the EFCC has not formally disclosed the specific offence his client is alleged to have committed.
