Not less than 500 students of Alimosho Grammar School and Ikotun High School in Alimosho Local Council, Lagos State benefitted from the Basic Education and Literacy project of Rotary Club of Egbeda.
According to the President, Rotary Club of Egbeda, District 9111, Adejimi Oluwatoyintosin Martha, the project, which is one of the seven areas of focus for Rotary International was carried out to improve the students’ access to qualitative learning, support literacy development and prepare them for examinations.”
At the event, text books, literature texts, note books, dictionaries and past questions were given to the schools. Adejimi added that to promote a clean, hygienic environment for effective learning within the schools premises, dustbins and stakes were donated to the schools.
She also noted that the project helps to paint Rotary as a reliable partner in community development. Adejimi advised the students to stay focused, determined and passionately pursue their academic goals.
She, however, called on the government to prioritise education funding and infrastructural development. Principal, Alimosho High School, Mrs. Adegoke Oluwadamilola Matilda appreciated the club’s magnanimity as the donations would aid academic performance of the students.
