Daniella Joy Solomon has been elected the pioneer Charter President of Rotary Club of Ikeja Cosmopolitan.
The Charter Certificate Presentation Investiture Ceremony which was presided over by the District Governor, Rotary International, District 9111 comprising parts of Lagos and Ogun States, Prince Henry Akinyele, took place at the Rotary Centre, in Lagos.
Akinyele said he felt delighted to have additional club in the district that increased the number of clubs to 79.
“This is the very first charter club this Rotary year as part of our commitment to grow Rotary and the additional 29 members that form Rotary Club of Ikeja Cosmopolitan is an achievement.
“ I charge them to set the ball rolling by carrying out service projects, impact their communities, make contribution to Rotary Foundation, District Education and Endowment Fund (DEWEF), others including our collective efforts to eradicate polio and I assure them of my support,” he said.
Solomon said: “We will also contribute to polio eradication, Rotary Foundation, DEWEF, others and make all the Rotary Int’l seven areas of focus our key projects…”
“I want to leave a legacy that will butress the fact that I serve humanity the way a Rotarian should serve” he said.
The Doyen of the club, Past President Raza Babatunde Salau described the day as a remarkable day and the event an epoch-making one.
“Our strong desire is to make the world a better place which is the reason for forming this new club.
“I am the Doyen of the club and Chairman, Rotary Foundation and I will ensure that the foundation is funded adequately and also make sure that polio is totally eradicated.
“Today, we are 29 and concentration will be accorded membership development to justify the increase in the number of clubs in the district.
“Members of the club will support the President to ensure she succeeds” he assured.
