The Imo State Police Command has arrested three officers allegedly linked to the ‘Vikings confraternity’ after a viral video surfaced showing them wearing cult insignia.
Spokesperson for the command, Henry Okoye, said at the weekend that the arrest followed a thorough investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, into what he described as “an unacceptable display of unprofessionalism” by the officers.
The officers identified as Inspector Obinna Peter, Corporal Amaechi Augustine and Corporal Ejikeme Victor have been detained and are to face an orderly room trial at the command headquarters today (Monday).
Okoye stated: “The conduct displayed in the viral video is highly unprofessional and does not reflect the discipline, ethics and values of the Nigeria Police Force. The outcome of the Orderly Room Trial will be communicated to the public in due course.”
An anti-cultism advocacy platform, NaijaConfra, had shared the video on social media last week. The footage sparked widespread criticism and prompted public calls for immediate disciplinary action against the officers.
