Troops recover machine gun ammunition, neutralise bandit leader in Zamfara

Troops have intensified operations against bandits in Zamfara State, recovering a large cache of light machine gun ammunition in Anka Local Council.

During the raid, soldiers from the 1 Brigade Combat Team 6 neutralised a bandit leader and recovered an AK-47 rifle, three magazines loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle.

The Guardian learnt that the operation, which lasted more than four hours, forced the bandits to flee under the troops’ superior firepower. Other items recovered included over 70 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, three motorcycles, and communication devices, while one kidnapped victim was rescued.

The air and artillery components of Operation Hadin Kai also carried out coordinated strikes on terrorist enclaves. The military reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the nation, dismantling terrorist networks, and ensuring peace and stability, noting that the latest success reflected the professionalism and gallantry of troops defending the North-West region.
