UK govt commends Uba Sani for improved security in Kaduna

The United Kingdom (UK) Government has praised Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for his efforts in improving security, noting that the development has led to Kaduna’s reclassification from “red” to “amber” in the UK travel advisory.

Head of UK Development Cooperation at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Cynthia Rowe, made this known on Wednesday during the Kaduna State Mutual Accountability Framework (K-MAF) Dialogue.

Rowe said security is a key enabler of growth and development and commended the governor for his achievements in restoring peace.

“Building on this momentum, Kaduna will host the FCDO SPRiNG Programme (Strengthening Peace, Resilience and Inclusive Governance), which is designed to address drivers of conflict, strengthen peacebuilding mechanisms, and support inclusive governance,” Rowe said.

She added that the UK Government remains committed to supporting Kaduna State’s development aspirations, pledging continued collaboration to deepen private-sector involvement and attract investment across critical sectors of the economy through agencies such as the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA).

Sani, in his keynote address, expressed appreciation to the FCDO for its partnership, noting that collaboration between Kaduna State and the UK has strengthened governance, driven development initiatives, and improved human capital development.

He highlighted K-MAF’s achievements, including expanded access to healthcare, reduced maternal and child mortality rates, improved emergency health responses, and better school infrastructure and teacher training, leading to higher enrolment and improved learning outcomes.

On agriculture, the governor revealed that the sector received over 10 percent of the state’s 2025 budget, the highest in recent years, to boost productivity in crops and livestock, promote climate-smart agriculture, and strengthen food security through value chain development.
