Tinubu’s economic reforms repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth – NTAC DG

The Director-General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Mr. Buba Yakubu, on Thursday, commended the economic policy reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, describing them as bold, transformative and instrumental in repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and international relevance.

He praised President Tinubu for implementing far-reaching economic policies that have revived national productivity and restored investor confidence.

Yakubu disclosed this during the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ engagement held in Yola, aimed at sensitizing citizens on the developmental achievements of the Tinubu-led federal government over the past two years.

The one-day grassroots engagement and sensitization meeting, organized by APC lawmakers in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, brought together party faithful, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

The event provided a platform for participants to assess the administration’s achievements and express appreciation for the appointment of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser (NSA).

He highlighted the positive impact of the President’s policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, which have saved the nation trillions of naira and redirected revenue to critical areas of development.

He said: “We are proud of the achievements of the President Tinubu-led government in the last two years, and we are particularly grateful for the appointment of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser.”

Yakub praised the President for appointing Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, a son of the state, as National Security Adviser, saying it was a testament to his confidence in the abilities of Nigerians from the region to deliver on critical national assignments.

He noted that the President’s decision to remove fuel subsidy has proven to be a step in the right direction, stating that Nigeria can now proudly be described as an exporter of finished petroleum products.

In a statement by the Head of Information and Public Relations of NTAC, Ojo Adetoun Olubunmi, Yakubu highlighted several major infrastructure projects currently underway across the country.

He added, “These include a superhighway linking the North, Southwest, and South-South; the 750-kilometre Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway; the 477-kilometre Trans-Saharan Highway from Abuja to Calabar; and the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway.

“In the North-East region, he said, the federal government is constructing the 432-kilometre Akwanga-Jos, Bauchi–Gombe highway, with surveys ongoing to extend it to Yola, creating a direct expressway from Abuja to Yola.”

He also noted significant strides in railway development, with $3 billion approved for the Eastern Corridor Railway line and a 27% growth in the sector. The water sector has similarly recorded a 40% increase in performance, the highest since independence.

On education, he praised the introduction of a ₦95.6 billion student loan scheme and the approval of free education for all Technical schools, complete with new equipment and a modernized curriculum.

He further emphasized the government’s commitment to social welfare, citing the Conditional Cash Transfer program that provides ₦75,000 to over 50 million Nigerians, and the recruitment of Forest Guards to strengthen national security.

In the energy sector, he commended the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for vehicles, noting its impact on reducing transportation costs.
