Vice Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, has described the induction of the institution’s pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. Friday Okonofua, into the United States of America National Academy of Medicine (NAM) as recognition of excellence.
With Okonofua being the only Nigerian in the 2024 cohort, Adejuyigbe described him as a leader and teacher, stating that his culture of excellence had also been reflected in the institution since the period he held sway.
In a statement issued by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Isaac Oluyi, the vice chancellor, who hailed the feat achieved by Okonofua, stated that “this feat is for all of us.
“Professor Okonofua is a personification of excellence. He has demonstrated this in all he has been involved in. As the pioneer VC of UNIMED, he established the culture of excellence, which still exists to date. We cannot but rejoice with him, as this accomplishment is for all of us. Congratulations, our amiable teacher and leader.”
