Nigerian Historian, Keazor, appointed as Director of Nsibidi Institute

The Board of Trustees of the Nsibidi Foundation has announced the appointment of Nze Ed Emeka Keazor as Director of the Nsibidi Institute, the Foundation’s heritage and cultural research arm. 

The appointment, according to a statement by the organisation, officially takes effect from June 2, 2025. Keazor, an award-winning historian, filmmaker and archivist, brings over 30 years of experience in historical research, film-making and curation. 

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. His notable curatorial projects include the First Bank and TotalEnergies mobile museums, while his film work includes the award-winning on January 15, 1970.

Most recently, he served as Consultant Historian on the acclaimed documentaries, The Decolonisation of Africa and Journey of the Beats. The Nigerian Historian, who in 2015 received an award from the African Society of Cambridge University for his contributions to African history, expressed his gratitude to the board for entrusting him with the leadership of the Institute, which has been dormant for five years.  He said that a robust yearly programme of events, research and digital tools would soon be unveiled to the public.
