NLNG, PHCCIMA partner for economic development

The Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company, NLNG and Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce (PHCCIMA) have concluded plans to work closely to attract meaningful development and stimulate economic development of Rivers state.

The agreement was reached when the President of PHACCIM, Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji, led new executives and elected council members on a business delegation to NLNG temporary office at the INTEL estate in Port Harcourt.

Membere-Otaji had said the visit was aimed at seeking for ways to jointly re-strategize in the face of the fall in global oil prices.

He emphasized the need for diversification of Nigerian economy saying efforts should be strongly geared towards import substitution and export promotion.

Membere-Otaji commended NLNG over decision to move their headquarters back to Port Harcourt adding that the decision was apt.

Speaking about the chamber, he said PHCCIMA is a veritable platform for strategic collaborations and networking, especially with available trade groups across diverse fields of endeavour actively in the chamber. He therefore, requested NLNG to join membership of the chamber so that the company can take advantage to harness the various collaborations with trade groups and members.

“Our visit here today is also premised on the need to familiarize and introduce the new administration’s executives and elected council members which I am the president. We are also here to invite you officially to be partakers of the PHCCIMA quarterly meeting and is requesting that your company play an active role by assuming the key sponsor of the meeting which is slated to hold in every quarter of the year.

Membere-Otaji had also during the visit urged the NLNG management to take advantage of an upcoming in-house magazine called Commerce Port Harcourt which is expected to hit the stands soon. Published by Port Harcourt chamber of Commerce, the magazine according to him shall find its way into every strategic institution, embassies and airlines among other places locally and internationally.

He noted that the objective of the magazine is to give industries in the state good media representation, enhance growth of industries, products and services domiciled in the 23 LGAs of the state and also help expose economic potentials inherent while highlighting investment opportunities.
