Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has petitioned the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, to sanction Justices Binta Nyako, Haruna Tsammani, and Garba Lawal for alleged gross judicial misconduct.
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) outlined the alleged offences committed by the judicial officers against him. He called on the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), which is currently meeting in Enugu, to investigate these allegations and take appropriate action.
Kanu also urged the NBA to publish a report condemning the use of civil procedures to undermine criminal law and to address the reintroduction of repealed statutes.
He emphasised that no Nigerian should ever be detained through abduction or tried under any repealed law. Additionally, he encouraged the NBA to hold errant judges accountable to restore public confidence in both the Bar and the Bench.
According to him,” the catalogue” of alleged infractions by the trio against him, “now stands as an un-erasable blot on Nigeria’s legal conscience”.
Recall that Kanu, who was extradited from Kenya in June 2021, has remained in detention at the Abuja headquarters of the Department of State Service (DSS)
