The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has expressed its support to the clamour by the governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, seeking for backward integration to enhance productivity and economic development in the country.

Speaking to newsmen at NOA head office, Awka, yesterday, the state Director of NOA, Charles Nwoji, decried foreign-made products to locally made ones.

Nwoji said that most Nigerians suffer the desire-for-foreign goods syndrome because of social symbol and assumption that foreign products are superior.

The NOA boss said: “A nation needs to, first, patronise its own products to grow its economy if the people are sure and proud of their products and services.

The engagement was to promote local products by asking people to consume what they produce,” he stressed.

According to him, there was a need for a sustained national campaign, continuous sensitisation and re-orientation of Nigerians, especially Anambra people, to change their attitude towards locally made products, in order to achieve transformation like Asian Tiger countries of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Japan.
