A community leader in Nsukka, Mr Jude Ugwuja, has called on Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to end the Boko Haram insurgency within three months.

Ugwuja who made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nsukka on Friday, said the president needed such support from Nigerians to be able to succeed.

“We should all support Mr President’s determination to end Boko Haram menace in the country within three months.

“Nigerians should see Internally Displaced People (IDPs) as their brothers and sisters by assisting them in whatever capacity they can, “he said

The community leader also called on Nigerians to be more security conscious to avert the menace of terrorists and other criminals.

He advised that people should endeavour to give useful information to security agents on strange happenings in their neigbourhood to enable them to combat crime effectively.

He reminded the people that law enforcement agencies could not secure lives and property without maximum support from Nigerians.

“For the present security challenges in the country to be overcome, all hands must be on deck in the fight against terrorism and other crimes.’’

Ugwuja, however, urged the security agents to be more pro-active, adding that some crimes could be prevented if the security agents were pro-active

“Security agents should pay much attention to intelligence gathering. This is the practice in crime fighting in the developed countries of the world.

“Government should also ensure that security agents are well equipped and motivated to enable them to adequately protect lives and property in the country,” he said
