Residents of Oba Ogo Community Development Association in Ijedodo, Iba Local Community Development Association (LCDA) of Lagos, have staged a protest to the office of Ikeja Electric Plc following two and a half months of power failure.

The residents were seen carrying placards with inscriptions: “Ikeja Electric: Please restore our transformer at Oba Ogo Sub-station, Ije –Ododo Lagos.” Chairman of the association, Teminu Titus, in a letter addressed to the officials said:  “We appeal, passionately, to your esteemed office for the restoration of Oba-Ogo sub-station Ijedodo 500kva 33/145 KVA transformer under Oshodi Business Unit.”

Speaking further, he disclosed the transformer became faulty on March 9, 2024 and was taken away by officials of  Ikeja Electric on March 18, 2024. He said the community has been in darkness for the past two and a half months, and “considering the present heat, it is extremely painful for the residents.”

“We appeal to you, to please restore or replace the transformer to give us a lease of life once again.” He added: “ We are paying our bills as and when due. We hope you will come to our aid in the least possible time.”

Responding, one of Ikeja Electric officials told the residents to exercise patience, adding that another transformer would be replaced by May 29, 2024.
