Ogun police, Osun NSCDC assure residents of safety at Yuletide

Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, assured residents of the state that it had put in place a robust security arrangement to ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

A statement, signed by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that the Command is not oblivious of the fact that many religious organisations have their headquarters in Ogun State, and the implication is that there is going to be influx of people from various parts of the world into the state for one religious obligation or the other.

Oyeyemi, therefore, said that policemen had been strategically deployed by the Commissioner of Police (CP), Lanre Bankole, across the length and breadth of the state with a clear mandate of ensuring crime-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

RELATEDLY, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, Agboola Sunday, has directed immediate deployment of personnel to worship, relaxation centres and motor parks for security of life and property before, during and after the festive periods.

The Commandant, who gave the order, yesterday, during December strategic monthly meeting with area commanders and divisional officers in Osogbo, asked all area commanders and divisional officers across the state to identify strategic and vulnerable points in the state and massively guard them.

According to the NSCDC boss, in a statement signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer NSCDC in the state Adeleke Kehinde, the end of the year period usually witness a lot of criminal activities, hence, the need for all personnel to be on their toes to smoke out criminally-minded people who are hell-bent on frustrating the peace and tranquility being enjoyed by residents of the state.

He also appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies by providing intelligence that could lead to the arrest of men of the underworld.
