‘Ogunshina charged for conspiracy not forgery, stealing’
Lawyers to Mr. Olushola Ogunshina have refuted the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report which was published on the online platform of The Guardian listing their client as one of three Ecobank employees arraigned for conspiracy, forgery and stealing N2.8 million from customers’ accounts.
In a letter to The Guardian signed by O.A Olasewere of the SPA Ajibade &Co., the lawyers said their client, Mr. Ogunshina, was only charged with conspiracy, and not forgery or stealing as reported by NAN and published by the February 3, 2016 online edition of The Guardian.
“You will note from the charge sheet that what you reported as the charges against our client are utterly false,” Olasewere wrote.
“Other than the charge of conspiracy, our client was not charged for the other charges that your newspaper attributed to him. The lawyer also noted that trial has not commenced and “no evidence has been called or admitted before the court” on the charge.
The error is regretted.
