Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the construction of a 500-room hostel for the medical school of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Fred Itua, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday during Okpebholo’s campaign tour of Iruekpen and Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area, ahead of the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial by-election.
According to Itua, construction work on the project will commence in the coming weeks.
Quoting the governor, he said: “The Edo State Government will build a 500-bed hostel for the medical school in AAU, Ekpoma. In the coming weeks, we will mobilise contractors to the site.
“Remember, the first thing I announced when I became governor was the increase of the school’s subvention to ₦500 million — and we have done it. We have also constituted the school’s governing council.”
Okpebholo reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and urged party members to work towards securing 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The event was attended by key APC stakeholders, including the State Deputy Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh; Edo Central Senatorial Leader, Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (rtd); Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor; and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Gani Audu.
