The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to partnering with indigenes of the state living abroad to achieve meaningful growth.
Okpebholo, who made the reassurance during a dialogue with Edo diasporans on Monday in Glasgow, Scotland, also presented his administration’s vision centred on innovation, transparency, and practical governance.
The dialogue, titled: ‘Edo State Global Investment Summit 2025’ was convened by the governor in Scotland from Saturday to Monday under the theme ‘Catalytic partnership: Global funding and local impact’.
The dialogue brought together global leaders, investors, and development partners to explore transformative opportunities for sustainable growth in Edo and beyond.
According to him, the theme reminds us that by working closely together, we can transform opportunities into lasting progress for our people.
The governor said: “Partnerships are symbiotic; each partner gains, contributes, and together we achieve far more than we could alone. Edo has always been a land of heritage and creativity”.
From our ancient bronze works to the ingenuity of our youth, resilience runs through our DNA. This is why Edo is open for business.
“We are not asking for charity; we are offering true partnerships. In just eight months, we have renovated 68 schools and commenced the 36km Gelegele road project to serve our future seaport. We have inaugurated initiatives in health, infrastructure, and livelihoods. The future of Edo is not something we wait for, but create.”
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Edo Diaspora Agency, Loretta Ogboro-Okor, said that the dialogue was a testament to the power of unity among the state indigenes across borders.
The Director-General of the European African Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Kingsley Obasohan, announced a $250 million investment through the Edo Diaspora Agency into the state.
The summit brought together key stakeholders, investors, and members of the Edo diasporans to explore investment opportunities and development strategies for the state.
The event served as a strategic platform for the Edo State Government to attract foreign direct investment, promote public-private partnerships, and highlight the state’s ongoing economic transformation and reform agenda to a global audience.
