Ondo declares three days of mourning for late SSG

Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has declared three days of mourning and prayers in honour of the late Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi, who passed away on Saturday following a car accident.

During a condolence visit to the Oluwatuyi family in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the late SSG as a distinguished public servant whose contributions to the state’s governance and politics would be remembered.

The mourning period will last from January 5 to 7.

Addressing the children of the deceased via video call, the governor described Oluwatuyi as a gentleman who embodied humility and decorum in both his public and private life.

He promised the state government’s support for the family during this difficult time, adding that Oluwatuyi’s legacy would remain integral to Ondo State’s history.

In the condolence register, Aiyedatiwa wrote: “Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, you lived a life of impact and fulfilled your God-given tasks. May you rest in the bosom of your creator.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State also mourned the loss, describing Oluwatuyi as an accommodating and progressive leader.

In a statement by its Publicity Director, Leye Igbagbo, the party extended condolences to the government, Oluwatuyi’s family, and the Akure community.

“The late SSG was a very simple, humble, unassuming, accommodating, and truly progressive personality who never used his office to oppress any person in life.

“Our party finds the tragic incident very unfortunate but could not query God as to why such an amiable personality would go at this crucial time.

“As a party, we convey our heartfelt condolences to the government and the people of Ondo State over this irreplaceable loss,” the party wrote.
