One adult male has been confirmed dead, while three others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a series of accidents that occurred at the Otedola Bridge in Lagos.

The deceased was extricated from beneath a truck, while two of the injured were taken to the Accident and Emergency Centre after receiving immediate medical attention at the scene.

The accidents took place along the Otedola Bridge, where the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) was already engaged in an overnight operation to recover a fallen 40-foot container, preparing for its transfer to the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) office in Oshodi.

Upon arriving at the site of a secondary incident nearby, LASEMA’s response team discovered that the multiple accident involved four articulated trucks, each carrying containers.

Investigation revealed that the accidents were caused by reckless driving, which led to the trucks colliding and becoming entangled due to the force of impact.

LASEMA quickly assessed the scene to implement necessary safety measures to prevent further incidents. Immediate medical care was administered to the victims, who were transported to the hospital in ambulances provided by LASEMA and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The body of the deceased was bagged and handed over to the FRSC officers for further action.

Following the assessment of the new incident site, additional heavy-duty equipment was deployed. All affected trucks were successfully removed from the road and placed in a layby with the assistance of LASEMA’s Super Metro heavy-duty equipment.
