Otti congratulates Oriaku, other Southeast appointees in FCC

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has congratulated the newly appointed state representative on the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Obinna Oriaku, also known as Ekwedike, and other commissioners from the Southeast.

Oriaku, who served as Commissioner for Finance under the immediate past administration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, was among the chairman, secretary, and 36 state representatives appointed to the commission by President Bola Tinubu on Monday.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Otti urged Oriaku to see the appointment as an opportunity to offer selfless and people-oriented service to the state and nation.

He pledged his administration’s support to help the appointees succeed in their duties.
“The Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has felicitated with the newly appointed Commissioner representing Abia State in the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Obinna Oriaku.

The governor thanked the President for the appointment and tasked Hon. Oriaku to use the opportunity to serve selflessly,” the statement read.

Otti stressed that the FCC was established to ensure fairness and equity in the distribution of public positions and socio-economic opportunities among Nigeria’s federating units.
He emphasised the need to support appointees so they can strengthen democracy, foster unity, and promote development across the country.

The governor also congratulated other FCC commissioners from the Southeast, including Peter Eze (Enugu), Jerry Alagbaoso (Imo), Nnoli Nkechi Gloria (Anambra), and Barr. Nwokpor Vincent Nduka (Ebonyi), pledging to work with them to advance the region’s interests.

“He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by their appointment,” the statement added.
