The executive Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has vowed to deal decisively with some of his political appointees who secretly align with enemies of his administration.
In a circulating video shared on X by EkitiTrends on Saturday, the Governor berated and labelled the so-called political appointees as saboteurs who cannot stand in defence of the government that put food on their table.
Oyebanji hinted that some of those civil servants belong to social media platforms where his administration came under a barrage of criticism, but chose to remain silent for fear of losing some of the freebies they enjoyed from the opposition.
He hinted that the moment has come for his supporters to take over the social media space and notify the people of Ekiti what his administration is doing right.
We need to seize the social media space. It’s not that they’re winning the battle, but some of my political appointees cannot come out boldly and defend the government because they are eating from both sides.
”Very few of them are on platforms where our government faces a barrage of attacks, and they will keep mute. They won’t be able to talk, and they are collecting monthly salaries.
”I’m marking them one by one, but I won’t say anything now. But be assured that those of you who are on platforms where opposition is dragging us, and you chose to keep quiet while you collect salary from this administration, we will come back to you at the appropriate time.”
The governor urged his critics to adopt another party and challenge him at the June 2026 Gubernatorial election if they consider themselves popular enough to win people’s votes.
“If they are sure of their popularity, they should adopt another party, and then we will meet in June 2026. Mimiko did it in Ondo State,” he said
