Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday, reiterated their commitment to strengthening inter-state collaboration, particularly in the agricultural sector, to enhance food security and drive economic development.
Abiodun made this known during a courtesy visit to Makinde at the Governor’s Office, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
Speaking to journalists after the closed-door meeting, Abiodun emphasised the strategic importance of the partnership, noting that both states share historical, cultural, and economic ties, as well as a common border and similar agro-economic landscapes.
He recalled that the relationship between the two states dates back to the era when Ibadan served as the capital of the old Western Region, highlighting the need to build on that legacy for mutual progress.
The two leaders also underscored the need to strengthen security architecture across their territories as a foundation for sustained socio-economic growth and regional stability.
The discussion also covered regional security concerns, including cooperation on the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, which continues to play a vital role in ensuring peace and stability across the South-West of Nigeria.
