PHOTOS: Matawalle in Sokoto, inspects Air Force project
The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, and the Governor of Sokoto State, Alh. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, jointly inspected the ongoing development of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 119 Composite Group (CG) provisional layout in Sokoto State.
During the visit, Dr. Matawalle praised the dedication and professionalism of NAF personnel, stating that the project is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen national security.
“The Nigerian Air Force continues to play a critical role in safeguarding our nation,’ the minister said. “The Federal Government will ensure you have all the necessary resources to maintain operational efficiency, especially in countering security threats in the North-West.”
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing NAF’s capacity as part of the strategy to combat insecurity in the region.
Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto commended the cooperation between the Federal and State Governments in addressing security challenges, saying, “Sokoto State stands firmly with the Armed Forces. We are committed to providing all necessary support to ensure peace and stability for our people.”
He pledged ongoing collaboration to improve security across the state and the region.
The governor also acknowledged Dr Matawalle’s commitment to resolving the security crisis in the North-West.
“The minister has shown resilience and bravery by penetrating areas once considered ‘No-Go-Areas’ and reopening places previously abandoned by our people,” he stated.
The duo received a briefing on the project’s progress from the Unit Commander. The GOC of 8 Division, Brigadier General I.A. Ajose, and other senior military officers were also present.
