Plateau gov sacks five commissioners, names replacements
Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has sacked five commissioners from his cabinet. The sacked commissioners are: Commissioner for Budget, Chrysanthus Dawam (Quaan Pan); Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Noel Nkup (Shendam); Commissioner for Tourism, Jamila Tukur (Quaan Pan); Commissioner for Science and Technology, Obed Goselle (Langtang South); and Commissioner for Commerce (Bassa).
Their replacements are Joy Ramnap, former Deputy Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly; Dr Sunday Alex (Bassa); Slyvanus Dongtoe (Shendam); Dr Nicolas Bamnong (Quaan Pan) and Cornelius Doeyok from Quaan Pan.
The Secretary to the State Government, Architect Samuel Jatau, made this known yesterday while briefing journalists in his office at Government House, Little Rayfield in Jos.
No reason was given for their removal and replacement. The state’s Commissioner for Information, Musa Ashoms, confirmed the development in Jos.
“Yes, it is true. Five commissioners have been removed. The governor has also nominated five new commissioners to replace them,” Ashoms said.
The governor’s action came three months after he reinstated two commissioners, Chrysanthus Dawan of the Ministry of Budget and Jamila Tukur Bitrus of the Ministry of Tourism, who were suspended in August 2024. They were reinstated in October 2024 before their eventual dismissal.
