AS part of efforts to fight crime, the police in Oyo State have paraded 12 pipeline vandals and armed robbery suspects who specialised in terrorising residents and motorists.

The state commissioner of police, Leye Oyebade who disclosed this to reporters said the suspects in their latest attack on August 25 unleashed terror on motorists at Okun village near Igbeti where they robbed one Chief Rafiu Ojo and Fatumbi who were travelling from Ilorin to Kishi.

According to him, the command, through the collaboration of some ‘strategic partners’ and rigorous investigations, smashed a three-man syndicate of notorious and deadly armed robbery suspects and recovered arms and ammunition from them.
“Until nemesis caught up with them recently, the hoodlums had been terrorizing members of the public, motorists and other road users along the Igbeti-Kishi, maiming and dispossessing victims of their hard-earned money and other valuables,” he said.

In the arrest of pipeline vandals, the commissioner of police, said that the command arrested three suspects with 13 drums of premium motor spirit (PMS) along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“Some unpatriotic Nigerians have been vandalising petroleum pipelines in various locations in the state, causing serious financial loss to the country as a result of this economic sabotage. Determined to curb the menace, the Oyo State Police Command set in motion a robust intelligence to nab the perpetrators of this heinous crime. During an intensive routing patrol of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway recently, the Oyo State Highway patrol accosted two fuel laden Bedford buses with number plates and arrested the hoodlums who vandalised petroleum pipelines at Bare village, off Ajanla along the expressway.
