A three man gang of cow thieves which allegedly stole and killed three cows have been arrested by the police in Delta State.

The Delta State Police Spokesperson Celestina Kalu who disclosed this yesterday in Asaba explained that on Wednesday March 9, the Divisional Police Officer at Kwale Division had received a distress call from one Alhaji Musa Saidu, a Fulani herdsman that the armed cattle rustling gang shot and killed three of his cows in a bush at Emu Ebendo quarters Kwale.

Kalu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said that going by the report, a patrol teams in collaboration with local vigilante quickly mobilized to the scene and observed that a cow was killed and most of its parts
were carted away.

She however explained that in the course of searching for the culprits Mr. Bright Aghanenu, a 25 year iron bender of Emu Ebendo was accosted and arrested with dismembered cow parts and an unregistered Daylong
motorcycle.

The police image maker said that the suspect confessed to the crime and mentioned his cohorts.

Kalu said that a Russian-made double barrel long gun loaded with two cartridges, a single barrel long gun, fresh cow parts including the head and limbs, one blood-stained cutlass, two wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were among the items recovered from the suspects during a search in his house.
