The Nigeria Police has reopened the case of alleged forgery of Senate standing rules by some senators.

It had invited the presiding officers of the Seventh Senate and relevant individuals to appear before it.

The rules were alleged to have been forged to alter the pattern of electing presiding officers from hitherto open ballot system to secret ballot at the inauguration of the Eight Senate on June 9, 2015.

The alleged forgery also included the alteration of the pattern of the nomination of committee chairmanship in such a way that the new rules now permit the opposition to chair Grade A committees in contrast to the trend in the past.

The letter of invitation, which was dated June 6, 2016 and signed by an Assistant Inspector-General of Police, James Caulcrick, listed the affected officers to include immediate past Senate President, David Mark; his deputy and also incumbent Deputy Senate President, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu.

Also on the list are former Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba; former Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa; Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Ita Enang, Dr. Nma Ogozy and former Clerk of the Senate (now deceased).

The letter reads: “I refer to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police’s letter No. CR:3000/X/FHQ/ABJ/VOL. 186/98 dated July 1, 2015 requesting the under-listed officials of the seventh Senate to report to the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department for the purpose of conducting investigation on the above subject matter: Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Majority Leader of the Senate, Clerk of the National Assembly, Clerk of the Senate, Chairman, Business and Rules; Secretary, Business and Rules.

Sigh of relief.I was wondering if a matter of such magnitude could be swept under the rug, considering Buhari’s posture on corruption, thanks for not letting me down Mr. President sir.

Maybe someone in senate has offended Buhari again. This allegation only knows the face of newspaper. It should not take two years to know if a rule was forged or not. Enough of the back and forth of this administration with Nigerians. We’re beginning not to be impressed with their approach to governance. If you’re prosecuting, then prosecute full blown and let the entire nation feel the pulse of your stance on corruption. Where is Diezani? Cooling away in London under the guise of a non existent cancer. Any attempt at extradition request? None that Nigerians know of. Has Dasuki been brought to trial? Not yet, one story or the other. Jonathan, the freest man on earth and only in Nigeria. This administration only knows to fry ‘small fish’ like Olisa Metuh, Fani Kayode and Badeh. What of Saraki? No, that one decides when to appear at the CCT and who should be seated to judge his case. And where is Mr. President? He’s hanging out with Tinubu and Awujale at the colonial master’s abode in London, where they go decide our fate under the guise of ear infection.

This whole charade is turning into a joke and Nigerians are intelligent enough to know when they’re been taken for another old and familiar ride. The day our elected politicians, including the president, realizes that they’re elected to serve us and our collective will, is the day Nigeria will start seeing change. Until then, another election cycle will come, noise of promises will be made, and another round of masters will preside over us and the banana republic story will continue.

Wasting precious time. Nigerians are dying, suffering infact living in misery. This waste of time confirms that Boohari is incompetent and lacks the vision to lead this country. Non-possession of relevant academic certificates by Boohari makes this pseudo military regime ILLEGAL, IMPEACHABLE and UNCOSTITUTIONAL ie Boohari is running a parallel govt. of ILLEGALITY. recognised only by his APC forgers-extra-ordinaires.(eg. Tinubu)

Why can’t the police work independently, why is it that anythiing the police, army, efcc, icpc, or any governement agency does must be attributed to Buhari?

Because they don’t hide the fact that they act based on directives from above! Does it not sound curious to you that one year after this matter came up, the police is still “investigating” the matter by inviting the officers concerned to the police station? When will they be charged to court and have the judiciary determine the culpability or otherwise of those being accused?

You need to study the Nigerian Constitution my friend. Seemingly you looks blind in knowledge and understanding of what is known as separation of power – Executive, Judiciary and legislature. What has the President got to do with law enforcement agents for carry out their constitutional responsibilities?
