• Ekpa: We’re in talks with U.S. on new Biafra policy
Police operatives in Anambra State have successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt on a foreign national by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
During the operation, two police officers were injured in a gunfight with the kidnappers at Ogbunka, in Orumba South Local Government Area. The state’s police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, adding that a manhunt for the secessionists is ongoing.
This is as the Finland-based pro-Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa, said that he has commenced talks with the United States government over a new Biafra policy framework and Biafra liberation. Ekpa, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noted that he spoke to Biafrans during a virtual tour in Australia.
He noted that the call for Biafra self-determination is rooted in historical grievances, economic disparity, and socio-political marginalisation by the Nigerian government.
