Security operatives in Taraba State have rescued two kidnapped victims in Isini village, Sarkin Kudu, within Ibi local government council.

Confirming the development, the Chairman of the council, Iliya Jibu, stated that the victims, a man and a woman, were abducted at midnight on Wednesday when gunmen attacked the village.

Speaking at an interactive session with journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, Jibu explained that upon receiving the distress call, he immediately ordered the deployment of police personnel from the Ibi council Command.

The chairman said the operation was carried out in collaboration with local hunters and vigilante groups.

“The security team acted swiftly, and upon sighting them, the kidnappers abandoned their victims and fled,” he said.

Jibu reiterated the commitment of Governor Agbu Kefas’ administration to eliminating criminal elements and ensuring lasting peace in the state.

He assured that Ibi council would not be a safe haven for criminals and pledged to continue working with stakeholders to enhance security in the area.

The chairman urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, emphasising that community cooperation is crucial in the fight against crime.
