Principal excited as Abuja secondary school makes history

Principal of The Regent Secondary School, Abuja, Philip Reynolds, has relished the institution’s feat of becoming the first secondary school in West Africa to be judged ‘Outstanding’ across all nine categories by British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspectors.

Speaking while receiving the inspectors’ report, the administrator noted that the milestone was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of its students, teachers, staff and board.   Reynolds applauded them for consistently striving for excellence.

While assuring that the school will continue to provide a world-class learning experience, the principal observed that the achievement would not have been possible without the “support of our parents and guardians, who have entrusted us with the education and well-being of their children.”  He added: “This recognition reflects the high standards we uphold at The Regent Secondary School, Abuja.”

It is a proud moment for our school community, and a testament to the dedication of our students and staff.”

Reynolds described the accomplishment as “a defining milestone,” adding: “Achieving ‘Outstanding’ in all nine categories highlights our unwavering commitment to excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement.”

According to him, the feat reflects not only the school’s commitment to academic excellence but also the strength of its inclusive, nurturing community.  The Guardian reports that the team of BSO inspectors was led by Dr Mark Evans.

The inspection was commissioned by the UK Department for Education (DfE) in England to inspect and accredit British international schools outside of the UK.
Inspected schools are judged against the following nine standards: quality of education, spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of pupils; welfare, health, and safety of pupils; suitability of staff, supply staff, and proprietors; premises and accommodation; provision of information to parents; handling of complaints and grievances; leadership and management, as well as boarding provision.
