As part of efforts aimed at improving the nation’s health sector, the Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) Department of RCCG, Dominion Sanctuary, ACME, Ikeja Lagos, recently donated one hundred and fifty units of bed-linen, comprising bedsheets and pillowcases to the General Hospital Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos State.

In his speech, Minister-In- Charge, Dominion Sanctuary, Acme Parish, RCCG CSR Department, A/P (Prof.) Olugbenga Ogunmoyela, stated that the CSR department of the RCCG is an initiative of the mission under the General Overseer, Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye, to showcase the church’s sense of responsibility towards the community and the environment.

He disclosed that the initiative is built on eight pillars: social, health, education, media and communication, business and economy, arts, culture and entertainment, governance and sports (SHEMBAGS).

Ogunmoyela said: “We are again very grateful to God for today, as we begin to fulfill the vision of our Senior Pastor, the Pastor-in-Charge of Region 19 and Intercontinental Missions Coordinator, Pastor Brown Oyitso, in the health sector.

Represented at the event by Pastor Adeoye Ogunleye, the Pastor in Charge of the Acme Zone, Dominion Sanctuary, this is a project that has cost over N1.5m in support of the General Hospital in the first of the planned collaborations with the health sector of Lagos State.

The Lagos Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, said the gesture of the church is complementing efforts of the state government in promoting the health and well-being of Lagosians.

Abayomi, who was represented by the Director of Medical Administration and Training, Dr. Olufunmilayo Sokunbi, noted, “we want to appreciate the church for the kind gesture. This is an opportunity to tell all the religious bodies and non-governmental organisations to imbibe such gestures.

The government cannot do it alone and there is so much to do in the health sector. Thank you for donating the one hundred and fifty units of bed linen for the entire bed spaces in the hospital. I want to assure you that they would be properly used and would improve the quality of health of the patients.”

Expressing his appreciation, Medical Director of the General Hospital, Ifako/ Ijaiye, Dr. Bamidele Mustapha, recalled, “someone came to me about a week ago that our beddings are old and I responded that God would do it.

Suddenly, the church came and said they were donating the 150 units of bed linen for the total bed spaces in the hospital. When you give clothes to cover someone, you are covering the secrets of that person and I pray that God will cover your secrets.”

Continuing, he said, “we are still in need of electronics like television sets, generating sets and air conditioners. We want to use this opportunity to urge other well-meaning Nigerians to take a cue from the RCCG. They have done wonderfully well.”
